Audition Info Percussion 2019 Thank you for your interest in UMS Percussion. We will have auditions to determine good placements for students interested in joining our percussion ensemble. Auditions are an opportunity for us as instructors to understand your skill level so that we can place you on an instrument that is just the right level of challenge.
There are three things you should plan on doing if you would like to join UMS Percussion: 1. ASAP Start practicing the music attached here (battery or front ensemble), and fill out this survey (bit.ly/PercApp) so that we get to know a bit about your experience level, what instrument you would like to play, and your availability to attend practice and competitions. 2. On TBD 3:00 - 4:30 in/around band room: Attend both after-school clinics, where you will get to know the program, other members, the expectations, and you will consider whether UMS Percussion is a good fit for you. If you have them, bring drum sticks or mallets, and ear plugs. If not, we have plenty.
3. On TBD 3:00 - 4:30 in/around band room:: Attend both audition practices where you will take any feedback from the previous week and all the new skills you have gained and show us your skills. Remember: our goal here is to understand what your current level is so we can place you on the right instrument. The primary skill set we are searching for in our members is the ability to work well in an ensemble. Your ability to listen to instructions, do your best with feedback, and positively support your fellow musicians actually outweighs your current skills. Please feel free to ask me questions about the audition process, time commitments, or anything else that you are wondering about. Email me anytime at email@example.com.
